International Year One in Business and Management
at De Montfort University
The International Year One (IY1) is the first stage of a three-year integrated degree and is studied over three terms before progressing to the university. It is ideal for international students who do not meet the University’s direct entry requirements. International Year One provides an intensive combination of first-year university subject modules with extra study and English language skills. Upon successful completion, you will continue to the second year of your chosen degree.

Course Overview
This course is the first year of a business-related degree. You will learn core subjects relating to management, marketing, business strategy, accounting and finance as well as Organisational Behaviour Theory. On successful completion, you will continue onto the second year of your chosen undergraduate degree course.
Combining academic study with a real-world insight into the world of business and management, this course equips you with the skills to succeed.
The IY1 in Business will give you the knowledge and ability to continue into the second year of your degree in Leicester Business School, a £45 million facility.
Focusing on developing a broad understanding of business principles, marketing, strategy, and management, the IY1 will teach you the critical perspective necessary for successful academic study.
Develop leadership skills and a range of skills that are designed to boost your career prospects such as presentation, teamwork, decision-making, and research.
You can put what you learn into practice on your degree course at DMU. Business students are given the option of a placement year which includes the chance to work with internationally-renowned companies such as IBM, Disney, and the MOD.

These fees are expected to be in line with Oxford International pathway fees and will be confirmed closer to the start of the IY1 programme.
