BSc (Hons) Nursing (Learning Disability) and Social Work
Course Overview
Gain the knowledge, practical experience and professional skills needed to support people with learning disabilities through both nursing and social work practice. This innovative dual-registration course combines health and social care, preparing you to deliver person-centred support while working collaboratively across multidisciplinary services.
Throughout the course, you will develop practical and professional skills, including:
- Understanding contemporary learning disability nursing and social work practice
- Supporting people with learning disabilities to improve health, wellbeing and independence
- Gaining extensive real-world experience through placements, which make up 50% of the course
- Working collaboratively with professionals across health and social care services
The course combines academic study with extensive practice-based learning to prepare you for dual professional registration as both a learning disabilities nurse and a social worker. It is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and Social Work England.
