Course Overview

Gain the knowledge, practical experience and professional skills needed to support people with learning disabilities through both nursing and social work practice. This innovative dual-registration course combines health and social care, preparing you to deliver person-centred support while working collaboratively across multidisciplinary services.

Throughout the course, you will develop practical and professional skills, including:

  • Understanding contemporary learning disability nursing and social work practice
  • Supporting people with learning disabilities to improve health, wellbeing and independence
  • Gaining extensive real-world experience through placements, which make up 50% of the course
  • Working collaboratively with professionals across health and social care services

The course combines academic study with extensive practice-based learning to prepare you for dual professional registration as both a learning disabilities nurse and a social worker. It is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and Social Work England.
