Course Overview

This degree brings together mathematics and psychology, allowing you to explore both the power of mathematical analysis and the science of the human mind and behaviour. Ranked 4th in Scotland for Mathematics (Guardian University Guide 2026), the programme provides a strong foundation in pure and applied mathematics while developing practical skills in mathematical modelling, data analysis, and specialist software used across industry and research. Alongside this, you will examine key areas of psychology, including cognitive development, personality, social behaviour, and psychological disorders. The strong quantitative focus of the course enables you to apply mathematical techniques to psychological research and behavioural data. Through research projects and practical investigations, you will develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific communication skills. Graduating with expertise in both disciplines, you will be well prepared for careers in data analysis, research, education, finance, technology, psychology-related fields, and many other sectors.
