Course Overview

This degree combines philosophy with French and Spanish, allowing you to explore fundamental questions about knowledge, reality, ethics, and human existence while developing advanced language skills. You will study both ancient and modern philosophical traditions, with a particular focus on continental European philosophy and the influential thinkers who have shaped contemporary thought. The course examines how philosophical ideas connect to real-world issues through topics such as politics, ethics, science, technology, film, and art. As your studies progress, you will explore specialist areas including existentialism, aesthetics, and the philosophy of culture, while developing the ability to analyse complex arguments and communicate ideas effectively. Alongside your philosophy modules, you will study French and Spanish throughout your degree, whether as a beginner or at an advanced level. Graduating with strong analytical, communication, and intercultural skills, you will be well prepared for careers in education, media, public policy, international organisations, business, publishing, and a wide range of other professions.
