Course Overview

Healthcare technologies combine engineering, digital devices, sensors, software, and clinical expertise to improve how illness is detected, managed, and treated. This course explores how these technologies work alongside artificial intelligence (AI) to support modern healthcare. You will learn how AI enhances clinical decision-making, personalises treatments, improves hospital workflows, and powers technologies such as wearable devices, smart sensors, and digital health systems.

The course takes an interdisciplinary and practical approach, reflecting how innovation happens in real healthcare settings. You will develop hands-on skills through project-based learning, working across engineering, computing, and clinical practice. By the end of the course, you will be prepared for roles in medical device development, digital health, AI innovation, and healthcare organisations such as the NHS, or for further research in this rapidly growing field.  A progression pathway to this degree is available from the September 2026 intake.
