The Pre-Master’s (IIM) is offered over one or two terms and is designed for students who do not qualify for direct entry to the university’s master’s programmes. This could be because of the grades achieved in your bachelor’s degree, your current qualifications are not equivalent to a UK bachelor’s degree, or because you have a different background.

The Pre-Master’s (IIM) – Business pathway gives students a deeper understanding in preparation for their chosen postgraduate degree.
The Pre-Master’s (International Incorporated Master’s – IIM) programme is designed for those students who do not qualify for direct entry to a postgraduate degree at the University of Kent.
This programme will equip you with the advanced skills you need to complete your postgraduate study at the University of Kent. You can study this over one or two terms, depending on your academic qualifications and English language level.

The University of Kent International College (UK IC) is a dedicated college for international students to start their studies. We offer integrated and standalone pathway programmes which develop your academic and English language skills.

Course modules
A key requirement for effective and successful engagement with your postgraduate studies will be your ability to deploy advanced language and study skills in written and oral communication. You will focus in this module not only on skills development, but also on gaining an appreciation of language styles and purposes and developing your ability to recognise and adopt appropriate conventions of tone and behaviour in academic discussions. What makes for the successful management of a business and, in particular, the capability to make the key decisions about its future growth and development? Chief among the responses has to be the effective gathering, analysis and use of statistical information about business performance and potential. This module provides you with a grounding in statistics and the deployment of data. It has a practical element in that you are able to engage, for example, with spreadsheets and their manipulation as a tool for analysis. Who can doubt the central importance of effective communication to any organisation? It is certainly critical to successful business management, especially in the global context. You will consider what makes for and what hinders effective communication, giving due regard to inner and cross-cultural communication within business, government and the wider society.
