Course Overview

This Economics degree explores how individuals, businesses and governments make decisions in local, national and global economies, combining the study of microeconomics and macroeconomics. You will develop strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills while examining key economic issues such as growth, inflation, employment and business behaviour, as well as wider challenges including inequality, climate change and healthcare. The course provides a strong foundation for careers in economics, finance, business and public policy, and equips you with highly transferable skills for a wide range of professional roles in today’s global economy.

This programme is available as both an MA and a BSc. The MA (Hons) option allows you to combine your compulsory modules with arts and social science subjects such as History, English, Geography, Politics, or Psychology. In Scotland, an MA is an undergraduate degree and is the same level as a BA in other parts of the UK.
