Course Overview

This course examines both the macroeconomic challenges facing national, regional, and global economies and the microeconomic behaviour of people and businesses. An economics degree provides an excellent foundation for a career as an economist while also opening doors to a diverse range of high-earning professional opportunities.

You will learn how societies attempt to optimise their scarce resources, building expertise that enables you to advise governments, individuals, and companies on improving decisions and outcomes. Traditionally, economists advise on investment, inflation, interest rates, and production. Today, they increasingly address broader issues including climate change, inequality, and healthcare improvement.

The MA option is designed for those seeking greater flexibility and who have a strong interest in arts and social science subjects. Alongside your compulsory economics modules, you can study a broad range of disciplines including History, English, Geography, Politics, or Psychology. The BSc provides a more focused, quantitative pathway in the early years.

This degree equips you with the analytical skills and theoretical understanding for careers in economic analysis, policy, finance, consultancy, and beyond.
