Course Overview

This programme equips you with the critical tools to analyse, evaluate, and engage with key theories and policy debates surrounding sustainability. You will explore global best practices and methodologies for assessing and evaluating sustainability, drawing on a wide range of international perspectives. You’ll also have the chance to apply your knowledge in a practical setting through a placement with industry or the public sector, working on a live project for real clients—an invaluable opportunity to gain professional experience while making meaningful contributions. Throughout the course, you will actively engage in independent research, with the potential to progress into our vibrant PhD community. You will become part of the research network at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) and the wider University of Dundee, with opportunities to participate in major events such as the Dundee Energy Forum and our annual climate change conference. Aligned closely with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, this programme empowers you to contribute to a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable future.
