Course Overview
Are you currently working in, or looking to move into, the financial services industry? This distinct new MSc programme provides an innovative and flexible approach allowing you to upskill or specialise in your career. The addition of risk management to this programme makes this a unique degree which will prepare you for a number of roles in business and finance, including risk officer. You can choose to complete the full masters programme, or a shorter PGCert or PGDip. The programme consists of the following pathways: PG Certificate Banking and Finance PG Certificate Risk Management PG Diploma Banking, Finance and Risk Management MSc in Banking, Finance and Risk Management MSc Banking, Finance and Risk Management If you choose to do the full masters programme you will learn about international corporate finance, strategic investment and banking and wealth management. You will also complete modules looking at risk management and corporate governance, how to identify and manage risks and how to measure and monitor organisational resilience and sustainability. On the MSc you will also develop practical research skills and undertake a consultancy project or research-based dissertation. Banking and Finance pathway On this pathway you will focus solely on international corporate finance, strategic investment and banking and wealth management. Risk Management pathway This pathway will cover risk management, corporate governance, and project risk appraisal. You will learn how to identify and manage risks and how to measure and monitor organisational resilience and sustainability. Whichever pathway you choose, you will develop key skills in information searching, data collection, problem-solving, communications, and report-writing. Modules will be assessed by coursework assignments and you will apply your knowledge to specific business contexts. You will keep up-to-date with business and financial news, and current issues facing businesses and the financial services industry through case-studies and peer-to-peer debate. Employability skills are embedded into the programme. For example, you will use learning logs to personalise your learning and become a reflective practitioner.
