The one-term option is a fast-track, three-month online course designed for students who are close to meeting the entry criteria.

After completing the online Pre-Master’s Programme, you’ll travel to the UK to begin your master’s degree in education or psychology at the University of Dundee.

Course modules
The aims of the module are to build on the existing English language ability of international students to prepare them for study at master’s level at the University of Dundee, in particular, to raise students’ measurable performance from a minimum of 5.5 IELTS to 6.0 IELTS or higher and to continue to increase linguistic competence and boost confidence in the use of English in the context of postgraduate studies. The approach of the module is to ensure that linguistic ability facilitates eventual successful engagement in academic courses at SCQF level 11, to introduce students to the advanced skills of critical thinking, evaluation and creative engagement with study materials and to focus students on their need to develop as independent learners. (10 Credits)
The aim of the module is to introduce students to the structure, demands and expectations of postgraduate study in the UK. There is an emphasis on the development of academic skills of relevance to study at postgraduate level and students are introduced to learning strategies that will be of particular benefit with particular emphasis on the VLE and the role of IT and of the Internet and specialist sites and journals that may be accessed digitally. The module aims to assist students to develop as critical users of the Internet and evaluate material accessed in their research. Students will be helped to become more reflective and self-evaluative and to develop group working and team building skills. (10 Credits)
The aim of the module is to continue to develop the existing English language ability of international students to prepare them for study at master’s level at the University of Dundee, in particular, raise students’ measurable performance to that of their progressing School (either IELts 6.0 or 6.5 overall) or higher and to further increase linguistic competence and boost confidence to a higher level in the use of English in the context of postgraduate studies. The module’s approach aims to ensure that linguistic ability ensures successful engagement in academic courses at master’s level. Students develop further their deployment of the advanced skills of critical thinking, evaluation and creative engagement with study materials in helping them pose and solve problems. Students are introduced to further strategies and techniques that will enable them to function better as self-directed and autonomous learners. (10 Credits)
This module provides the foundation in statistical knowledge and skills that students need to be successful in master’s level studies, with a focus on practical data analysis and the use of excel or statistical software to derive data insights. nSpecific Aims: nIntroduce students to core statistical concepts and methods, ensuring a foundational understanding of both descriptive and inferential statistics. nEquip students with the skills to effectively collect, organise, and present data in various formats, enabling them to analyse, interpret, and communicate findings in a clear, accessible manner. nProvide hands-on experience with excel or statistical software, enabling students to apply their statistical knowledge in practical settings and conduct their own data analyses. nEnable students to apply data analysis techniques to real-world problems relevant to their field of study, fostering the ability to draw actionable insights from data to support decision-making and problem-solving. (10 Credits)
The aim of the module is to develop knowledge and understanding of how to conduct an informed, systematic literature search, and how to produce a concise description and succinct analysis of literature relevant to professional practice and / or advanced academic study. Students will learn how to search for relevant academic sources using various databases (e.g., Google Scholar, JSTOR, PubMed), understand the importance of keyword selection, and refine their search strategies to obtain relevant literature in their area of study. Students will gain familiarity with tools like EndNote for managing references, organising research material, and creating accurate citations and bibliographies. They will develop the ability to assess the quality and relevance of academic literature, including evaluating the credibility of sources, identifying potential biases, and understanding methodological approaches in academic research. Students will learn to write detailed annotations that summarize, assess, and reflect on the relevance and application of each source in relation to their own research questions or academic interests. Appreciation of theories as the conceptual basis for understanding, analysing, and designing ways to investigate relationships within social, health, psychological and education systems and approaches. There will also be an exploration of the concept of evidence-based practice (10 Credits)
The module focuses on developing students’ understanding of legal and ethical frameworks in global business practices, with a particular emphasis on sustainability and corporate responsibility. It introduces students to the evolving landscape of corporate regulation, examining both legal mandates and voluntary corporate initiatives, such as corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the transition to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. Through this exploration, students gain insights into how businesses balance profit-making with environmental and social responsibilities, while engaging with global frameworks like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students examine the impact of globalisation on corporate ethics and social responsibility, with a focus on how businesses from the Global South face unique challenges in navigating legal and ethical issues. The course encourages a multidisciplinary perspective, bridging concepts from law, business, and sustainability to enable students to critically assess how companies across various sectors align their practices with global standards. Through the module, students develop the skills to evaluate and apply legal and ethical frameworks in real-world scenarios, preparing them for leadership roles in an increasingly globalized and ethically aware marketplace. (10 Credits)

Students will study International Stage One in Business from April to December and will then progress to International Stage Two starting in January.
