Course Overview

Explore the diversity of life by studying biological processes from molecules and cells to whole organisms and ecosystems. You will develop a strong foundation in biology while gaining practical laboratory and research experience, with opportunities to tailor your studies to your interests and career aspirations.

Throughout the course, you will develop practical and professional skills, including:

  • Studying biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, evolution and the biology of plants, animals and microorganisms
  • Conducting research using state-of-the-art laboratories and specialist tissue culture facilities
  • Developing coding and data analysis skills to interpret biological data
  • Designing real-world solutions for challenges such as sustainable manufacturing and ecological restoration

The course combines academic study with practical research experience to prepare you for careers in biological research, biotechnology, environmental science and related fields. It also offers the opportunity to gain industry experience through an optional placement year and is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology.
