Course Overview

How societies respond to poverty, inequality and social need is at the heart of this course. You will examine how social policies are shaped, implemented and evaluated, while gaining insight into governance and policy-making at regional, national and international levels.

Alongside theoretical understanding, you will develop practical and transferable skills, including:

  • Analysing social issues through different political and theoretical perspectives
  • Understanding the relationship between policy, welfare and public services
  • Building research, communication and problem-solving skills

The course combines academic study with applied learning, helping prepare you for careers in policy, research, public services and related sectors, as well as further study.
