LLB (Hons) Criminology and Criminal Justice

Criminology draws on perspectives from areas such as law, public policy, social policy and economics to examine crime and criminal justice within wider social, political and economic contexts. You will develop an understanding of how crime is defined, managed and addressed in contemporary society.

Throughout the course, you will build practical and transferable skills, including:

• Understanding crime, deviance, victims and criminal justice processes
• Exploring policing, sentencing and wider justice systems
• Applying criminological theory to real-world social and policy issues

Combining academic knowledge with practical and analytical skills, the course prepares you for careers across criminal justice and related sectors, as well as further study.The programme is offered at both Belfast and Derry~Londonderry campuses.

Work Placement Information
A work placement year is an optional part of your degree and is normally completed during your studies, before your final year. If you are interested in undertaking a placement, you should discuss this with your Course Director once you start your degree programme. Please note that you will need to apply for a visa extension and pay an additional placement year tuition fee.
