Course Overview
Students explore key concepts, theories and principles that underpin modern healthcare and life sciences while strengthening their English language, academic and professional skills. Through engaging and applied learning, students develop the knowledge, critical thinking and study skills needed to succeed in a UK university environment. Successful completion provides a solid foundation for progression to a range of degree programmes in health, life sciences and related professional fields.

This module introduces you to data collection methods as well as essential mathematical and data analysis skills. You are given practical experience in interpreting and presenting data using digital tools and software such as Excel. (20 credits)
This module introduces different theoretical perspectives on health, illness and healthcare. It explores how individual health experiences are shaped by wider social, cultural, political and economic influences. The module aims to encourages critical engagement with health-related issues across diverse social and cultural contexts and you to develop key research, teamwork and communication skills. (20 credits)
This module introduces important concepts and principles of Chemistry and Physics necessary for study in biosciences and related health and life science disciplines. You will get the opportunity to work in a real laboratory setting and be encouraged to develop analytical thinking.
This module introduces the communication skills, professional values and ethical awareness required for progression into regulated health professions. It develops your ability to communicate clearly and compassionately in healthcare contexts, while building your understanding of professional responsibility, safeguarding and readiness for practice.
This module covers the foundations of cell biology, human anatomy and physiology, with an overview of major body systems and how they maintain homeostasis. You will study the digestive system in detail, including digestion, absorption and nutrient transport, alongside nutrient metabolism, energy balance, and the roles of macro- and micronutrients. The module also explores hormonal regulation, blood glucose and fluid balance, and the impact of diet on health and disease, including nutrition-related disorders such as malnutrition, obesity and metabolic conditions. You will get the opportunity to work in a real laboratory setting during this module.
