Course Overview

Develop a strong understanding of economics and finance while exploring how markets, governments and organisations make decisions about the use of resources. You will combine economic theory with financial analysis, gaining practical experience and the skills needed to respond to real-world financial challenges.

Throughout the course, you will develop practical and professional skills, including:

  • Understanding microeconomics, macroeconomics, investment management and financial risk
  • Using statistical software, research methods and financial data analysis to solve economic and financial problems
  • Applying your knowledge through live projects, placements and global learning opportunities
  • Building expertise using the University’s Financial Trading Floor, Bloomberg Terminals and Bloomberg for Education finance courses

The course combines academic study with industry-focused learning to prepare you for careers in economics, finance and the wider financial services sector. It is accredited by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) and delivered by Sheffield Business School, whose business courses are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
