Course Overview

Software engineering focuses on the design, development and maintenance of software systems used across a wide range of industries. This course combines programming knowledge with practical problem-solving, helping you understand how complex digital systems are created and managed.

Throughout the programme, you will build technical and analytical skills, including:

  • Designing and developing software systems using modern programming practices
  • Understanding networks, cybersecurity and cloud-based technologies
  • Applying computational thinking to solve complex real-world challenges

Practical projects and hands-on learning are embedded throughout the course, giving you the opportunity to apply your skills to industry-relevant challenges and prepare for careers in software engineering and related technology fields.

Work Placement Information
A work placement year is an optional part of your degree and is normally completed during your studies, before your final year. If you are interested in undertaking a placement, you should discuss this with your Course Director once you start your degree programme. Please note that you will need to apply for a visa extension and pay an additional placement year tuition fee.
